This birth was very special to me because Jesse and Ryan are past wedding clients of mine. I was so honored when she contacted me about photographing her birth! Jesse was wonder woman throughout the birth of her beautiful baby girl (which was a surprise). She labored and delivered through an unmedicated birthing process with the utmost peace and grace. Like, seriously, I’ve never seen someone in so much pain and be so incredibly calm and balanced. Maybe I was just a big baby for my natural birth, ha! Sadly, just before the baby was born, I had to leave to photograph a wedding. I am so very thankful that Michelle of Labor of Love was able to step in for me to finish the documentation of the birth. Her photos (edited by me) are those that are noted.

Oh, how we have all been waiting for the day that sweet little Henry joined us in this world. I was so excited when Michelle asked me to photograph her natural birth. Birth photography is the most surreal and emotional things that I get to do–and it is my absolute favorite thing to do. I’m obsessed and so in love! I was lucky to make it in time to Henry’s birth–he was in a hurry! Phillip (Michelle’s husband) realized that no one had called me yet, so by the time I got there, Michelle was pushing and little Henry was on his way! Of course I frantically unzipped my camera bag and put my camera together the fastest I think I ever have in my life. Within about twenty minutes, Henry was in Michelle’s arms and the room was full of love and joy. Michelle was a champ while going through her unmedicated birth. She had the help of doTerra oils and some amazing nurses, midwives, and doulas.
Note: It was really really dark in the room, so I had my ISO jacked as high as I could get it. I refuse to use a flash and disrupt such a beautiful moment during births. It took a lot of de-noising and adjustments in post processing, but I think they came out raw and beautiful!
Thank you again, Phillip and Michelle, for letting me be a part of such a wonderful experience. I am truly honored.

Okay, we’ve been mean and kept it a secret–but here is your answer!
It was so exciting getting to see them learn the gender of their second baby. I wish more people would capture this joyous event on film. We are so excited for the new addition to your family! Poor Mason was not feeling the model vibes this day. Who can blame him–he was cold, wet, and sleepy. He worked the camera for a few shots thought–and boy did they turn out pretty darn cute!
